the giant baby serving the dwarf children

from another dedication today. I can only do light colors and little paint since this isn't watercolor paper. I thought of repeating an existing birthday scene, but made two new ones instead. Erased the three parents who were behind the table.

Pictures from the coast of southern Oregon and Northern California. We went camping and it was a much needed time spend in nature. Listening to the ocean feels so good.

I took very few pictures.

Rumi putting these utensils in a drawer. There is money in the cash register! It is a food truck part of a math project.

Shown here without its roof.

I hope you get to walk by the ocean too.

three

During an evening walk. Sunset light and Rumi's wonderful presence.

Borrowed these shoes, but luckily didn't wear them at the concert. Rumi was happy to try them...

I was going to share these 3 pictures on the first of June, for the day of the Child, celebrated in Bulgaria. Didn't due to confusion. I still don't know how this blog should change or whether to abandon it.

Drew this short sequence last night for the two boys the book is for. Showed it to my husband, and this is what he said: "Maria, you are wasting your time." How stupid of me to be repeating words that hurt me. And I get his point...maybe I should listen and change?

And last, this video is for my dad, who passed away on this day fourteen years ago. For the conversations we could have had.

only scribbles mama

Today I bought a box of 12 oil pastels for Rumi and me. They might be difficult to use if you want to make something likable, but I was using them as a two year old would. Mostly to scribble and express how helpless and confused I have been feeling. Like these old babies. Still, the two year old me got to make noises, sing every color, how I love oil pastels, and my kids found that entertaining. Oh dear. Will I find my pain funny? Any time soon? Please.

Clueless.

does it have to?

I have been on a diet for 16 days and have lost 0 pounds. At least the things I have been cooking are tastier than usual.

The rose we walk by. Its whiteness and round shapes. The fragrance. All the buds. The aphids.

Half of the sketches from today's story time.
This blog lost its purpose. This feels sad, but does it have to?

SCBWI conference

This is all I drew during the two day SCBWI conference near Portland. Being surrounded by over 200 people for 9 hours a day is a great opportunity for drawing, but I was busy listening and taking notes. When I came home this wonderful girl was waiting for me and wanted to play with my hair. Something I love.

So I had a great weekend.

Happy day to you.
